This latest shifter romance by Becca Fanning is a smorgasbord for romance fans. We get a bit of second-chance, secret baby, and fated mates all rolled into one great tale full of suspense and danger. Unlike so many fated mates stories, Cole and Kassie have a slow-burn thing going on as they work together to ensure Taylor's safety. The tension, both romantic and suspenseful, as the story progresses and makes for a page-turning read that I didn't want to put down. Cole is such and endearing and humble character, and my heart broke for him so many times in this story, but he's also strong and protective when it comes to taking care of his girls. He and Kassie are so good together, even when they're still trying to figure things out, and I loved how things came full circle with Kassie's connection to Norah and Abram. When it's all said and done, My Secret to Bear is a terrific story of family, love, loyalty, and protecting those we love no matter the cost.

This prequel to My Secret to Bear tells the story of Norah and Abram and how Cole came to be. It's fast-paced and full of action and danger as Norah and Abram race through the wilderness to find a safe place for their son. It's a story of love, loss, and a parent's sacrifice. This novella length read does a nice job of setting up the plot and backstory for Cole and Kassie's story.
