Ten years ago I tried to save her.
She was an innocent girl trapped in the clutches of a monster.
Battered and bruised and without a friend in the world.
Except me.
I couldn't ignore those sparkling green eyes that begged me for help.
I fought my hardest to save her but I failed.
I was no more than a child and her captor was too strong for me.
I almost died that night.
But that was a decade ago.
I never forgot her.
I never forgot the night I let her down.
I've been trying to ignore the pain ever since.
And now the monster is back.
She's still his slave.
Same as before.
But one thing's changed.
I'm not the boy I was back then.
I've become a man.
More than a man.
I'm a cold blooded killer.
And I'm about to travel into the lair of the beast once again.
Only this time, I'm going to save her and nothing is going to stop me.

Momma Says: 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
How far would you go to save the only friend you've ever had? For John, that's a journey that spans not only miles, but years, and takes him places that no one should ever have to go. We don't get as much about Rebecca in this dark and twisted tale, but it's enough to know that her ordeal is disturbing to say the least. The only drawback for me was a scene between our main characters toward the end of the story. I won't go into details so as not to give too much away, but given the ages of when they last spent time together and everything that both have been through in their time apart, what happens between them seemed a bit rushed and over the top. Other than that, the story is fast-paced and full of action, suspense, and the evils that men do.
