I'll admit that this book was bittersweet for me. I was chomping at the bit to read Knox's story, but knowing it would complete the series, I dreaded saying goodbye to these characters that I've grown so attached to. In this one, we get the answers to Knox and Jade and everything that happened off page in the last book as well as the history that made Knox the man he is today. I did have a little trouble getting behind the romance here and wasn't crazy about Jade as we learn her motivations, but the chemistry between this pair is undeniable and as the story progresses, it all comes together. Knox may not have faced the tragedy in his past that the others did, but that feeling of being unwanted shapes him in ways that certainly tug at the heartstrings. This series has been about so much more than the affects of being sucked into the criminal underworld of crime families. Cain, Ivan, and Knox are their own type of family, one born of necessity and survival. These misfits may not always do what is legal or right, but their actions are guided by a fierce loyalty to each other and I couldn't help but fall a little in love with them. Knox completes the series wonderfully and hints at a possible new series have this reader ready to see what's next.
