Fate's Reaping
Bear Sheriff Book 2
by Becca Fanning
Focus on the work. She'll be back. She has to come back...
Bear Shifter Sheriff Marcus Stone had a missing person's case to work, but his heart just wasn't in it. This missing pastor was probably off "hiking the Appalachian trail," as the politicians liked to say. His heart was with Angie, over a thousand miles away in a world that couldn't be more different than his simple small town life in Charming. New York City had everything you could ever want, and Marcus knew that Angie was a big city kind of girl. Focus on the work...
Angie needed to get back to Marcus, to her new home in Arizona. The future was an unknown dark path that seemed to stretch out forever, but as long as she had Marcus she'd walk it without hesitation. But the night before she is to fly back to the man of her dreams, her past catches up with her. Put into an impossible situation, she has to choose between lying to the man she loves or losing him altogether. Who knew choices could weigh on you like chains of iron?
But things go from bad to worse as three strange individuals are seen around Charming, asking questions that hit a little too close to home. What's even worse is that Marcus can tell they're different, yet somehow familiar.
To hell and back, if that's what it takes to be with her...

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐
This second Bear Sheriff book picks up where the first left off and loaded with even more action that its predecessor. The tortured soul that is Marcus still has his doubts about good things happening in his life, but with Angie he's found some hope. Except, this pair just can't catch a break. Between seemingly random acts of violence against one or both of them, a couple of disappearances, trouble from the past on both sides, and another danger lurking, Marcus and Angie barely get a chance to breathe let alone work on their new relationship. However, we do get some romance as our sexy bear and his lady love do manage to sneak in some time together, both for communication and steamy goodness, even if they have to steal a few minutes between disasters. The story moves along at a breakneck speed and the many twists make it next to impossible to put down. This is the second book in a continuing story and while it would technically be possible to follow most of the story on its own (we do get some backstory), I would highly recommend reading the books in order. We also get a cliffy with this one, which has left this reader not so patiently tapping her foot in anticipation of what's to come for Marcus and Angie.
