Grinder
Genre: MM Contemporary Romance
Senior year, two hockey championships under his skates, and parents who didn't freak out when he swung the proverbial closet door open and stepped out ...
Damon Grant's life couldn't get any better.
At least that's what he thought.
When Jonah Kingston showed up at the barn as the new hockey coach, Damon couldn't believe his luck.
What was it about the dark-haired, bright-eyed, former hockey star that made him want to grind on and off of the ice?
*A standalone, MM, coach/player, hockey novel. If you like steam in and out of the shower, Grinder is a book for you! Due to explicit content, including tons of butt stuff, this book is meant for mature audiences 18+.
Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐
I usually struggle with teacher/student romances, especially when we're talking about high school students, but the age difference isn't that big and our student is eighteen. Plus, the cocky Damon is the aggressor here. I'll admit I didn't care for Damon at first. He's over the top arrogant and doesn't seem to care who he hurts as long as he gets what he wants. Normally, not liking a character would put the brakes on the romance for me, but there's just something completely compelling about this one. I just couldn't stop turning the pages. Part of that was me wanting to see Damon get his just desserts, but the more I read, the more I changed my mind. Marie James peels the layers of this character back little by little and I started to see the guy underneath the arrogance. Then we have Coach Jonah, who feels a bit sorry for himself and is trying to get his life on track. Oh, and he's straight, or at least he always has been. Of course, his sexy as sin hockey team captain rides in to blow his plans right out of the water, or off the ice as it were. The story is dramatic, emotional, sexy as sexy gets, and angsty. Oh, the angst that revolves around this pair! It's packed full of loss, betrayal, misunderstandings, and deceit, but with that, we also get love, redemption, forgiveness, and hope. The only drawback for me was that I would've liked more resolution with Finn. Perhaps, a bit of justice? That aside, I did enjoy the read with its too hot to handle romance and happy for now ending.
