Interracial Romantic Suspense
They
thought they were safe in their elite little world. They couldn’t
have been more wrong.
When
Charity Daniels was seventeen she fell in love with Literature, and a
man who taught it. Their forbidden love was held back until
graduation, until legally she could be his.
Flash
forward three years, Charity is studying at Yale and still in love
with her Princeton Man.
Quinn
(Q) Everett is on scholarship at Yale, and finds himself inexplicably
in Charity’s path. He tries to stay away, but his mouthy best
friend thinks he knows better. Suddenly it’s lunches and crashing
private plans for the duo just to see her.
But
their flirtations do not go unseen, and Logan’s love turns and goes
from jealousy to murderous intent.
Can
these unproven lovers stay the course and avoid the devious plot of a
scorn man or will everything crash and burn?

I gotta be outta my fucking mind. How
the hell did I let my boy talk me into this crazy ass road trip? A three-hour
tour and now I’m stuck here on Gilligan’s Island. I’m not old enough
to gamble, so what the fuck am I gonna do here, now that it’s three a.m. and
I’m the only one up. Stryker cleared out the mini fridge and passed out and the
girls, ugh. I don’t wanna think about them and that old Irish dude.
As for Charity, it was nice to wish her a happy
birthday. Would have been nice if somebody had told me it was her
birthday. Though I did get her a copy of Much Ado About Nothing and
some candy for Valentine’s. I just, uh, left it
home. I didn’t know how to give it to her. I don’t mean anything fresh by it, I
just thought she might like it. It is a comedy after all.
She was off tonight, cold even. I don’t think she
said twelve words the whole time we were in the room. I mean, yeah, I get shocked. But stupefied? Not this chickie. Least I didn’t think so.
I get up and look down at the pool, wishing that
it was open, Then I remember they had an indoor pool just for guests. Well, I’ve got a key. Grabbing my wallet, I
head down to the concierge, get a pair of trunks and a towel, and off I go. I
get into the main pool area, and I’m not alone. Charity’s standing at the edge of
the pool in a black and purple two-piece.
It’s not skimpy, but it’s not, not.
“Couldn’t sleep either, huh?” I ask.
She jumps as she turns. “Oh? Hey, uh, yeah,” she
answers in little bursts.
I walk over and dip in my toe. “It’s heated,
that’s fancy,” I say with a horrible
hillbilly accent.
She shakes her head and laughs.
“Finally. I thought your sense of humor died in
that suite. I tell ya, it was like surround her
in finery and she turns into a clam. I
guess a guy’s gotta molest ya and keep ya
in squalor for you to be happy. Good thing I’m from the projects.” I hip-bump her playfully. She’s really tense, and
I don’t know her well enough to pry. “Well, bottoms up,” I say before doing a front flip into the water. I swim out a
bit and when I come up for air, she’s
gone.
“Damn it.”
