This short story collection is a good mix of sweet and sexy and touches on the very prevalent topic of homeless teens in the big city. The first and second books focus on Riley and Keiffer. Book one gives us their meeting and off and on romance and while it is an interesting story, it felt a bit stilted. Book two is where this couple shines. I enjoyed the closeness of this pair and loved that the angst isn't about their romance, but what Keiffer wants to do with his life. It may be a short story, but the emotions, loyalty, and trust of this couple certainly shows. The third story, Transitions, gives us Hector, or Tommy as he's known on the street, and Vincent. We saw a bit of Hector in the first two books as a close friend to Keiffer, and this one is all about him and a blooming relationship with Riley's teammate. Given his history, Hector is slow to trust, but the chemistry between him and Vincent is almost palpable. This one was the hardest for me at times as there are moments that are truly heart-wrenching as Hector tries to help a teen in trouble. Those hard to read scenes are tempered by some sweet and sexy with couple, and they were an absolute delight as they fell for each other. Both Keiffer and Hector get a modern day Cinderella story when they find their loves. Hector's story is easily my favorite, but all three are interesting and entertaining reads.
V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, Dr. Who, Torchwood, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, two Jersey steers and a flock of assorted domestic fowl.
When not writing lusty tales, she can be found enjoying her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in hand.
