✱✱Book Review✱✱ A Delightful New Year by Rich Rubin

A Delightful New Year
by Rich Rubin
Erotica

The events of what transpired over Thanksgiving still haunt Chris. Did it really happen? What if it happens again? Can Chris embrace the past like Brenda did and have a delightful new year?

Momma Says: 2 stars⭐⭐

The blurb for this one is a little misleading. Based on it alone, I wouldn't have guessed erotica. However, once I read the author's bio, the blurb does take on a different tone. Let me just say that I haven't read the author's first book, so had no idea of what happened at Thanksgiving. Those details are filled in here, and that's where this one lost me. The story is okay - the characters seem to think of nothing but sex no matter where they are or what they're doing, but this is erotica, so that's to be expected, I guess. On that note, the steamy stuff is often and detailed, and one thing that did impress me is that it's not completely perfect every time - it's messy and some experiments don't work the way we think they will, something that isn't shown nearly enough in romances of any trope. Now, based on all of that, I could've enjoyed the read. I didn't get much on the emotional level, but the book is only about sixty some pages, so it's not going to get too deep on the feels. The thing I couldn't get past is that Brenda and Donna are sisters. Taboo tropes can be sexy and exciting, but the whole sisters sharing thing is just too much of an ick factor for me. There's one part in particular that had I not been close to the end, would've been enough for me to DNF this one. To sum it up, I think those who enjoy this particular trope will like this one, but this one is certainly not for everyone, and I fall firmly into the latter category.
