✱✱Book Review✱✱ Girl Lost by Candace Dowds

Girl Lost
by Candace Dowds

Danny and Callie were childhood sweethearts. Danny knew there was something wrong with the girl he loved, but no one would answer his questions, and then one day, Callie simply disappeared.
Her family knew of her whereabouts, but not one single person would tell him where she had gone and why.
For years, Danny tried to fill the gap in his heart Callie had left behind, but he couldn't make a relationship work, and boy did he try. He tried until one day, Callie walked back into his life. You would think it would be a good thing, but it wasn't because the sweet girl he once knew, was gone, and she was replaced by a drug-addicted, mess that not only needed help, but she also needed to be loved.

Momma Says: 3 star⭐⭐⭐

Girl Lost wasn't quite what I expected after reading the blurb, and what I found was a little out of the norm for me. It is a romance, but more than that, it's a story about breaking through the darkness that life throws at us and finding a reason to go on. It does seem a little over the top at times with so much happening to Callie. It feels like she can't catch a break, and some of the subject matter is pretty heavy. It's also absolutely heartbreaking at times, but what impressed me is how the author lets hope shine through that heartbreak by way of Danny and Casey's determination to support Callie. On the technical side, I did notice a few grammatical errors, mostly an extra word or wrong tense here and there. They are minor, but noticeable. That aside, the story may not have been what I was expecting, and it is certainly emotional, but it is also well worth the read. The characters and their story is one that will stick with the reader long after finishing that last page.
