You Belong To Me
a psychological thriller with a brilliant twist
by Mark Tilbury
Can two wrongs ever make a right?
The police never found fifteen-year-old Ellie Hutton. She vanished ten years ago after walking home from school along a disused railway track. But Danny Sheppard knows exactly what happened to her. She is dead and buried in a field near Lassiter’s Brook.
Now Cassie Rafferty has gone missing. Same age. Similar circumstances. And Danny also knows what has happened to her.
Can Danny fight his demons and tell the truth this time?
Or will history repeat itself and leave another innocent girl dead?

First things first, when you use a hook like this one, predicting a 'brilliant twist' right next to the title, it darn well better deliver. This one did not. In fact, that hook along with the tag line pretty much led me to the twist early on. That said, the story telling did hold my interest. It's a little over the top on the believability scale, and I found myself wondering why characters reacted in certain ways or did certain things, but had they made what I would consider the logical choices, there wouldn't have been much of a story. The author is certainly talented and did a wonderful job of creating a sinister atmosphere while still addressing the complex relationships between the characters. So, predictability and suspension of disbelief aside, I still enjoyed the book and will check out other works from this author.
