Andrew looked up at her, the hammer still in his hands. Sawdust clung to his damp skin, but the smile on his face and the look of excitement in his eyes reminded her of a little boy playing with a new toy. “No use in wastin’ time,” he said, before hammering in another nail.
“I love this scent. The smell of sawdust always reminds me of something new.” Lacy moved towards the now counterless bar.
Andrew straightened up and nodded. “Yeah, for me it reminds me of possibility.” He glanced at the work he’d done that morning and wiped a bandana over his forehead. “Got more done this morning than I imagined, but the sanding is going to eat into the timeline you have.”
“It’s more a guideline than a timeline.” She met his gaze and felt the lingering heat there. For a moment she wished they were back in his workshop. “I got a lot done this morning too.”
“It’s always good to get a head start,” Andrew agreed, moving towards her. “I had the guys take the old counter back to my workshop. I think I have a plan for it.”
Lacy said, “I was wondering where your men were.”
“They’ll be back in a while.” Andrew grinned. “Right now it’s just you and me.”
Her heart thundered. “I’ve got a lot to do, better get a move on.”
Andrew nodded, taking another step closer. “Yeah, you’d better get started.”
His hand reached for her hip, the heat almost scouring her skin as need rushed through her body. “Yeah.” Her voice sounded breathless, but it couldn’t be helped. She had never experienced this strong attraction before. Her curiosity had her leaning towards him with a seductive grin. “It’s a novel feeling knowing that I’m in charge here.”
Andrew’s mouth tugged up on one side into a devilish grin. “Right now, I’m taking charge.”
His lips skimmed over hers with the slightest touch. Lacy’s hands reached for his hips, tugging him closer. Their lips touched again. This time he lingered, his hand skimming up her side before cupping her face.
He coaxed her lips with his tongue until she let him slip inside. She tasted his desire and let out a soft moan, returning the favor by sliding her tongue against his. His head tilted, deepening the kiss even more. Lacy’s mind emptied as her blood thickened with arousal.
With his body pressed against hers, his mouth fused to hers, Lacy lost all sense of propriety. Her hands skimmed up his back to rest on his shoulders when she felt his hands reach for her hips. In a swift move, he lifted her onto the edge of the bar.
Leaning on him for support Lacy gasped when his mouth trailed from hers to her neck. Teeth scraped over her sensitive skin while he hooked her legs around his hips. Lacy’s head wilted back, overwhelmed by the sensations flooding her body. When his mouth returned to hers it was demanding and ruthless, kissing her fervently.
Lacy felt the flames of desire lick at the surface; she had never been this turned on in her entire life. She’d been seduced on occasion, but never had a single kiss seduced her into submission.
There was no question in her mind of who was in charge, at that moment Andrew was in charge of her breath catching in her throat, her heart racing in her chest, and her blood pulsing the need for more.
A sound made Andrew break the kiss to glance in its direction. Still a little dazed Lacy blinked and stared in the same direction.
Sky was standing just inside the door of the Inn with arched eyebrows and an amused smile.
