Wild Country Cowboy
by Erin Marsh
First in a hot new cowboy romance series by author Erin Marsh, featuring cowboys dealing with wild animals on their land
Clay Stevens desperately wants to reclaim his grandfather's land, using the latest techniques to bring water to the arid landscape. The last thing he needs is wild wolves on his ranch—even if they are brought there by feisty and determined conservation officer Lacey Montgomery. Lacey is convinced the ranchers and the lobos can co-exist, until Clay's nephew and his friends cause a landslide that injures some rare Mexican wolf pups and Lacey gets hurt too. Clay and Lacey have to work together to heal old wounds and reconcile community factions, if they're going to have any chance at the bright future they both envision.

Wild Cowboy Country is a bit different than the standard cowboy romances, at least the ones I've been reading. It seems to be a common thing for the land to be a big focus, but Erin Marsh goes a different way. Oh, the land is still important, but so are the animals, including the animals that aren't necessarily good for ranches. In this case it's wolves that give our couple a common goal. The story has a small town vibe, and since Clay and Lacey are on opposite sides, we get a bit of enemies to lovers romance. The characters are likable and well developed, and the story has a good pace and between the romance and the animals, it held my interest all the way through.
