Okay, so I knew this was part one of a duet. I knew this couple wasn't likely to get their HEA in this book. I knew that Claudia Burgoa knows all too well how to twist our emotions and pull out all the feels. So, I should've expected that ending. Instead, I sat here looking at my Kindle screen far longer than I'd like to admit - maybe hoping for even a few more pages to magically appear, maybe just trying to wrap my head around the fact that I have to wait for book 2 to see where things go, maybe a bit of both. I always expect Burgoa to get me all worked up with the drama and emotions in a romance, and she does it very well here. I just love these guys to pieces, and that's all due to the author's talent with character-building - even when I wanted to shake the daylights out of one or the other of them, I still loved them and wanted them together (part of why I wanted to shake someone). So now I'm here, tapping my foot, very impatiently waiting for the next part of this love story. And that's the beauty of it: Claudia Burgoa has totally left me hanging here, but I still loved every single bit of this story.
