No one is guaranteed tomorrow.
Grant Carter knows that fact intimately. The shrapnel sitting on his spine from an IED is a daily reminder.
But the constant pain won’t stop him from working at the Resting Warrior Ranch, training service and emotional support animals to help people with PTSD—something else he’s intimately familiar with.
He’ll fight for those who can’t fight for themselves.
When his neighbor, shy veterinarian Cori Jackson, is humiliated by her ex-boyfriend for things she’d like to experiment with in bed, Grant is more than happy to show her real men aren’t threatened by an adventurous spirit.
The more time he spends with her, the more he realizes the literal girl-next-door is the one for him. And when Cori finds herself in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy surrounding the animals she treats, Grant will make sure she makes it out alive.
He's a fighter. Was one in the Navy SEALs and still is one today. And he’ll fight for Cori.
Even if it costs him everything.

This series just keeps getting better and better. I was excited for Grant and Cori's book before I even got my hands on it, and Josie and Janie do not disappoint. (Not that I expected them to based on past experience.) Like pretty much every other character of Resting Warrior Ranch, Grant is a bit broken - in his case, maybe a little more than a bit given his injury - but he's got the biggest heart and of course, he's a hero with a big protective streak. Cori has a heart to equal Grant's and he's just what she needs to help her spread her wings in the bedroom. Their romance is like a whirlwind but at the same time, it doesn't feel rushed. Of course, there's some danger, and these two may just have to save each other.
The rest of the ranch and ranch adjacent characters get some page time too, so we get to catch up a bit - that's something I look forward to with each book, and I'll definitely be looking for more of Grant and Cori as the series progresses because I couldn't get enough of this couple.
