✱✱Book Review✱✱ Perfect Everlasting Duet - Who We Are & Who We Love - by Claudia Burgoa

USA Today Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa pens a thought-provoking emotional duet that works through the angst of finding love amidst past hurts and the pain associated with not belonging, not fitting in.

He says they can both love me. Protect me. Be the men I need. Can I possibly believe them?

Every one of my relationships—from hookups to business partners—begins and ends with an NDA. Hell, I’ve never even been on a real date. That’s what happens when your famous, secretly gay parents go to extremes to protect their kids from the media’s unrelenting spotlight.

In a life where I try on and cast off pet projects like I change my socks, two people generate the kind of chemistry that holds my interest. Believe me, that’s saying something.

There’s my brother’s business partner, Tristan Cooperson. Mr. Hot Suit. Professional overthinker. Doesn’t just avoid mixing business with pleasure. He doesn’t mix pleasure with…anything.

Then there’s the beautiful bartender Thea Dennis. Skittish as the butterfly gracing the logo of one of her many side gigs. Hiding her past like a wounded dragon guarding its hoard.

Can you picture it? Tristan, Thea, and me. The perfect love. Untouchable by all the bad things of the world. Or capable of dragging us through the nine circles of hell.

Who We Are is the first book of the Perfect Everlasting duet. A polyamorous relationship packed with angst and two hot AF men.

Finally, Matthew's story. I had a feeling there was more to Matt than the playboy we've seen up to now. All three of the Decker triplets have a story to tell, but Claudia Burgoa saved the best for last. Matthew gets a #WhyChoose romance, and this trio definitely has their work cut out for them. Between the secrets and the guilt, the angst is through the roof, and my heart broke for Tristan and Thea. It broke a bit for Matthew too, but his baggage is different than what Tristan and Thea bring to the table. This first book in the duet has a lot of one step forward, two steps back for the relationship Matthew is working toward, but the chemistry is obvious even when one or the other panics and pulls away. This is a duet, so be prepared for the cliffy. Thankfully. the two books released together, so there's no waiting for what happens next. I literally read the last lines of this book and immediately started the next. These characters are so easy to love, and I was invested from almost the very first page, so I didn't care how many hours past bedtime it was or how few hours I'd have left to sleep. These characters got under my skin, and I needed to see them get their happy ever after.

I grew up knowing that the way I love is a sin.
But how can something so wrong feel so blessedly right?

Some people can’t drive fifty-five. Me?
I’ve never done simple.

But after Thea and Tristan came into my life, everything fell into place. Thea and Tristan make me whole. We’re in love. Or…I thought we were. Are we?

It was the music that broke her.
Shattered her.
Something about the music.

Tristan and I would do anything to lift the burden weighing her soul so she can heal.
But she has to trust us with her secrets.
Even if the truth that’s destroying her from the inside out strikes at the heart of the Decker family. Like the sucker punch that comes out of nowhere, drawing blood that the media is salivating for.

Me and Thea.
Thea and Tristan.
Tristan and me.

Somewhere in the eye of this emotional hurricane is the unicorn I have to believe exists. Because without hope and trust, forever doesn’t exist for any of us.
It’s as simple—and as complicated—as that.

Who We Love is the conclusion of the Perfect Everlasting Duet. A Decker Family novel.

My heart broke for these characters through most of book one, but that was just a little bitty heartbreak. This second book in the Perfect Everlasting duet brings the characters full circle, but bless their hearts, they sure take the scenic route. Some pretty big secrets are revealed, and a lot of healing needs to take place for these three to meet somewhere in the middle. That said, no amount of angst kept me from believing this trio was meant to be together. Yeah, yeah, I realize this is a romance, and obviously, the characters are supposed to be together, but it feels like so much more than that. That's something I can always count on with Claudia Burgoa. The characters feel real. They love, they hurt, they fuss and fight, and they forgive, and I'm just lucky enough to get to go along for the ride. I strongly recommend reading all three of these Decker family duets - just be prepared to have some tissues nearby because you're gonna need them along the way. Of course, that's just one part of the emotional journey. There's also laughter, family, love, and even some scorching hot steamy goodness crammed into these pages.
