✱✱Audio Book Review✱✱ La Vie en Rose: Life in Pink by Lydia Michaels

La Vie en Rose: Life in Pink
By: Lydia Michaels
Narrated by: Brian Callanan

Emma Sanders has always dreamt of being a bride, wearing fancy gowns, pretty pearls, and - of course - falling madly in love. Then life happened. Finding herself one fiancé short of her happily ever after, she leaves the fairytales behind. Some days are simply too perilous for pink gowns and pearls.

Riley Lockhart is the sort of man who can make a woman lower her gaze with only a smile. That he doesn't realize his charm makes him all the more enchanting. Determined to save Emma the pain of her breakup, he steps in as a friend, but soon finds himself wanting more.

She was just a girl, but she somehow winds up being the strongest woman he's ever known. Losing her is not an option and when life can't be tied neatly in a pretty little bow, he holds tight to all that he loves most in this world - his Emma. His hero.

Sometimes the greatest scars are worn on the inside.

Momma Says: 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The feels are all over the place with this one. It starts out like a pretty standard friends to lovers romance - witty and fun and steamy (we can't forget steamy - but it doesn't stay that way. Things take a serious turn, and the heartstrings don't just get tugged. Nope, Lydia Michaels gets a good grip on those strings and gives a great big yank.
As far as characters go, La Vie en Rose has some pretty terrific ones. Of course, there are some that aren't so lovable, but we have to have an antagonist or two, right? This couple, though. Riley and Emma have easily moved into a top ten spot of my favorite couples, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. They're both too sweet for words, and every girl should have a Riley in their life.
I won't go any further, so I don't spoil anything. I'll just wrap it up by saying if you haven't read this book, you really, really need to. Sure, it's emotional, and it will probably make you shed a tear or two. It will also make you laugh, swoon, and fall in love with love like only Lydia Michaels can.
Brian Callanan gives voice to these characters for the audiobook, and he does a stellar job. This is the first time I've heard him, but it won't be the last. I can't imagine anyone else voicing these characters, and he was perfect for Riley, in my opinion. Lydia Michaels chose well for this book, and the combination of her writing and Callanan's performance had me glued to my cell phone from page one.
