Pepper Winters does it again. This book is more than just another story. It's the story of two lives, two hearts that call to each other. So many emotions are wrapped up in this first part of Aslan and Neridat's journey, and from the sweetness of young love to the angst of yearning for what you can't or shouldn't have, Winters brings it all to life. There are some much darker emotions and life-changing events, gut-wrenching trauma that breaks your heart. Tor Thom and Fiona Clare bring the characters to life with duet narration, which is absolutely perfect for this book. These narrators bring out every feeling from the very first word to the last, and I felt every single one of them. I realize I've been really vague, but I don't want to give away the book's secrets. Suffice it to say the combination of Pepper Winters' superb storytelling along with the equally superb narration by Tor Thom and Fiona Clare is something you don't want to miss. And to think this is just the beginning of the journey for these characters.
