I’m not entirely clueless about women, though I do tend to put my foot in my mouth around them far too often. Like I did with Scout, the donut maker I stupidly introduced myself to despite visiting her truck for years. Maybe my teammates have a reason to call me the dumb one, but I’m determined to prove them all wrong—Scout included.
I want to be her friend. I want her to see the real me. What I’m not expecting is to like her so much when we start spending time together…or want to kiss her so badly.
I’m the jock, and she’s the bookworm. On paper, we make no sense together. But maybe I have a scoring chance with her after all.

Scoring Chance has such a good premise, and I love how Miller and Scout build up to a relationship. That said, I struggled with a pretty big chunk of it. Miller is just the sweetest, and I loved him from the beginning. Scout was likable at first, but the more I listened, the less I liked her. I think for me, the story was just a little too formulaic, especially with such a fun storyline. The story does have its share of humor, which was perfect for chasing away the rainy-day blues. Miller and Scout are so awkward at first that you can't help but laugh at some of their "revelations." This was my first time meeting the Comets, and they're all amusing, so I will check out the other books in the series. I loved Miller so much, and I really wanted to love him with Scout, but there were just a few too many problems for me.
The narration is done by Tim Paige and Callie Dalton. I've listened to both before, so I expected good performances here, and I got them. Both narrators do very well on the timing and tone, and the emotion of the story comes through loud and clear. All things considered, I liked this hockey romance by Teagan Hunter, and I will check out other books by the author as well as other books narrated by either of these narrators.
