Now, I find myself helping her plan the wedding at my dad’s luxury resort while the town’s gossip app follows our every move, afraid that their golden boy will get his heart broken twice by the same girl.

But that’s impossible because she stole my heart when we were 15 and never gave it back.

I have loved every Piper Rayne romance I've read and/or listened to, but there's something about this one that got under my skin, and it's hanging on tight. From the brilliant cover that so perfectly captures the heart of this story to the equally brilliant storytelling that only the duo that is Piper Rayne can deliver to the totally engaging duet narration, this book won me over completely. Lance is such an awesome leading man. He's vulnerable without being a pushover, and he's just so thoroughly lovable. Kenzie is kind of a mess but a lovable one, and this pair has a magnetic pull between them that is almost palpable.

Aiden Snow and Emily Woo Zeller give voice to the characters, and if you've never listened to duet narration, you don't know what you're missing. Emily Woo Zeller brings all the sass and excitement I expected from Kenzie, along with the emotion of being in close proximity to Lance. Then there's the absolute panty-melting voice of Aiden Snow. I already had Lance pictured as yummy, and the narration even manages to step that up a notch or two - or three, but who's counting?

I'm a sucker for a second-chance romance anyway, so I was predisposed to at least like this one from the start. It was the combination of story and narration that made me fall in love with it. This series has been so good, and I always look forward to another visit to Lake Starlight. These books can technically be read as standalones, but they're so much better if you start at the beginning and enjoy each couple as you go.
