Sleet Sugar
Sleet Series, Book 2
By: S.J. Tilly
Narrated by: Aubrey Vincent & Tor Thom
My friends have convinced me: no more hockey players.
With a dad who is the Head Coach for the Minnesota Sleet, it seemed like an easy decision. My friends have also convinced me that the best way to boost my fragile self-esteem is through a one-night stand.
A dating app. A hotel bar. A sexy-as-hell man who’s sweet, and funny...and did I mention sexy-as-hell?
I fortified my courage and invited myself up to his room. Assumptions. There’s a rule about them. I assumed he was passing through town. I assumed he was a businessman, or maybe an investor, or accountant, or literally anything other than a professional hockey player. I assumed I’d never see him again.
I assumed wrong.
Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐
Such a cute hockey romance by SJ Tilly. The story is pretty low angst, which was a great bit of escapism after a stressful week. Izzy comes across as a bit immature at times, but I still found myself liking her. Zach is just a total sweetheart that I couldn't help but swoon over, and together they do make a cute couple - even when Izzy is fighting it. The dialogue is witty, and the situations are often laugh-out-loud funny. Is the story over the top? Sure, but I wasn't looking for deep and total realism. I wanted something fun and easy, and Sleet Sugar delivered. Oh, and I have to give bonus points for actual gameplay in this sports romance!
Aubrey Vincent and Tor Thom give voice to the characters, and they both give a great performance. I don't think I've listened to Aubrey Vincent before, but I liked her performance. Tor Thom isn't new to me, and he was as good as I expected. He has just the right kind of deep sexy voice I'd have imagined for Zach.
So, if you're looking for a bit of escapism and you enjoy sports romance, I'd recommend giving this one a listen. I know I'll be listening to more by this author.
