I’ve never been a spontaneous person. And losing my mother last year made me even more cautious. So when my aunt suggested I go on the trip to England mom and I planned but never got to take, my first instinct was to say no. But Aunt Maisie argued that mom’s gap year across the pond changed her life. Maybe it would change mine too. Because even I can admit it’s a bit stagnant. So that’s how I quit my dead-end job and found myself boarding an international flight three weeks later.
I’m not being totally impulsive. Sharon Middleton, a friend my mom made all those years ago in England is picking me up at the airport and hosting me at her house for three months. At least that’s what I thought. But when I landed, it was her son Bas standing there holding a sign bearing my name. We met once as children and oh how he’s changed. Gone is the geeky boy with his nose in a comic book and in his place is a man who’s handsome, sweet, and oh-so-sexy.
My attraction to him is instant and it turns out, he feels it too. I decided a simple vacation fling might be just what I need to pull me out of my funk. But it didn’t take long for me to realize that simple isn’t possible with a man like Bas. He’s just too perfect. Plus the sex is amazing. Too bad he lives a world away from my real life—the life I need to return to at the end of three months.
So what’s a guarded girl to do when she comes to a crossroad? Return to her safe life or venture into the unfamiliar? I’ll let you know when I figure it out.
Momma says: 3 stars⭐⭐⭐
It's a sweet romance In England for this installment of the Vagabond Series. I liked the characters in this one, and the emotional element of the loss of a parent had me shedding a few tears. The only drawback for me was the length of the book. Given the subject matter, I'd have liked a bit more page time for this couple and their romance. That said, it's still a good way to spend a couple of hours. Given the loss, I don't know if I'd call this a vacation read, but it's good for curling up in your favorite chair with a warm drink.
