Shot Taker
King of the Court, Book 2
By: Piper Lawson
Narrated by: Lance Greenfield & Carly Robins
He leads the league in scoring. My heart won’t give him another shot.
I swore I’d never come back to Denver.
I’d never trust the wrong man again.
But here I am, back in the same place as the bad boy athlete who broke my heart.
Clay rules the basketball court, and now he’s gunning for redemption. But I'm not the same girl who fell for the man behind the all-star image and reputation.
He made me want him like I’ve never wanted anyone.
He made me feel like I was the only thing that mattered.
A single look can make me ache.
A whispered promise in his gruff voice makes my chest tight.
Clay’ll do anything to prove we’re worth another shot.
Shot Taker is a full-length grumpy sunshine sports romance and book 2 in the King of the Court series. Clay and Nova’s story begins in Game Changer and concludes in Play Maker.
Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐
Well, I thought Game Changer had my emotions running wild, but Shot Taker takes it up a notch. Clay and Nova are so good together that you can't help but root for them. There's a magnetic pull between them that seems to keep pulling them back into each other's orbit.
And then Piper Lawson wields her mighty pen and throws a twist at their HEA. So, I don't want to give too much away; just be prepared and keep in mind that there's a reason this is part of a trilogy. At this point, I'm thoroughly invested in Nova and Clay. I will say that based on my experience with Piper Lawson's work, this couple's journey may take a few wrong turns - they might even take the scenic route - but their final destination with be worth every drop of angst.
Lance Greenfield and Carly Robins continue their performances in this second book, and they do an excellent job. The story heats up in this one, and the narration is so good that I thought my cellphone was gonna start smoking. Let's just say that when Lance Greenfield purrs a particularly sexy line, it'll give ya a little tingle.
So, start with Game Changer and follow Clay and Nova on their journey. It's a curvy trip, but it's so very good.
