✱✱Audio Book Review✱✱ The Drawback of Single Dads by Piper Rayne

The Drawback of Single Dads
Lake Starlight, Book 4
By: Piper Rayne
Narrated by: Jason Clarke & Kit Swann

He’s the father of my child and my best friend.

When Hudson and I met, somehow things just clicked between us. We had the same sense of humor and the same carefree attitude about our lives and goals. Neither of us wanted to lay down roots, we wanted to explore the world.

Then one night, too much alcohol and uncontrolled hormones led to the line blurring, and we fell into bed together only to discover a month later that we were more careless than we thought.

Like the upstanding guy he is, Hudson followed me back to my hometown of Lake Starlight, Alaska, where you can’t throw a penny and not hit one of my family members. We gave them the news that yes, we were having a baby but there would be no wedding. We loved each other but we weren’t in love.

Fast forward three years and we live side by side to make co-parenting our daughter easy. I’m a writer, and he’s a ski instructor. We’ve worked out all the rough edges. Life is good.

Until out of nowhere, things start to change. He has a girlfriend, we’re arguing more than ever, and it feels as if someone has come along and popped our perfect bubble. I’m not sure we’re ever going to fit back inside it now because things are developing. Things like feelings.

Momma says: 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The great thing about series involving small-town romances is that you get to know the characters that make up that town. So, when you get to visit again, you can maybe catch a glimpse of some of them. Okay, that's one of the great things. The romance is pretty darn good, too. Piper Rayne have brought us back to Lake Starlight for a fun, low-angst friends-to-lovers romance, and it's everything we've come to expect from this duo. Hudson and Palmer are so good together. Of course, they're the last to know just how good, but that's half the fun of this romance. Then, there's sweet Adley, who is a total scene stealer. I'll skip the details and let each reader enjoy this one spoiler-free. What I will say is The Drawback of Single Dads is witty and fun with just the right amount of tugs on those heartstrings. The couple is super easy to fall in love with, and it's another great visit to Lake Starlight.
And that's just a drop in the bucket. The book was already witty and fun and a whole lot of swoony - then Piper and Rayne put it in the ever-capable hands (and voices) of Jason Clarke and Kit Swann for duet narration. The performances on the audiobook are like the icing on the cake. These narrators are absolutely perfect for this book and these characters. Whether you've already read the book or not, you don't want to miss this audiobook. It's just that good!
